Stock Market Highlights
On Wednesday, one day before weekly F&O expiry, the domestic equity market benchmarks BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 ended flat with a negative bias. The BSE Sensex slid 110 points, or 0.2 percent, to 54,208, while the NSE Nifty 50 index dropped 19 points to 16240.
UltraTech Cement, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), Asian Paints, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, and ITC all finished in the green on the S&P BSE Sensex. Stocks of Power Grid Corporation of India, Tech Mahindra, State Bank of India (SBI), Bharti Airtel, L&T, and Bajaj Finserv, on the other hand, ended the day in the red.
The India VIX, or volatility index, finished 2% lower at 22.30. All sectors indices closed in the red, with the exception of Nifty FMCG, Nifty Pharma, and Nifty Healthcare.
The Nifty Bank index dropped 0.4 percent, the Nifty IT index dropped 0.5 percent, and the Nifty PSU Bank index dropped 1.6 percent.
